This page points you towards various web resources that we've found of interest to EMC engineers.

UK

Automotive EMC The Automotive EMC network, run by Martin O'Hara of Telematica. Several papers and contacts, also an annual conference.
BBC Research & Development white papers The BBC's R & D group has many papers, mostly about esoteric aspects of broadcasting, but several have to do with interference to broadcast reception.

EMCTLA The EMC Test Laboratories Association, includes several documents to do with application of the EMC Directive and associated test standards.
EMCIA The EMC Industries Association, representing EMC product and equipment suppliers.

Others

Compliance Engineering Run by Compliance Engineering magazine and Conformity magazine; both these magazines are now defunct, but the websites are still active for archive material.
Conformity

CVEL inductance calc The above site has a handy inductance calculator for various geometries, accessed by this link.
Interference Technology Home of ITEM, still going, plenty of news and resources

Other countries' market surveillance

Theoretically every EU country operates EMC market surveillance - the buzz-word for enforcement - equally. Practically, it's quite hard to find out who is responsible for this in every Member State; the Europa website has a page for this, but it's not entirely useful. Here are a few countries which advertise their activities.

Germany The Bundesnetzagentur (Federal Network Agency)
Ireland The Commission for Communications Regulation
Sweden Elsäkerhetsverket (National Electrical Safety Board)

New Directives for EMC

Both the EMC Directive and the Automotive EMC Directive have been re-published as second editions, 2004/108/EC and 2004/104/EC respectively. We have put together a short briefing page which gives you the salient changes in these new Directives so that you have a handle on what they mean to your compliance strategy.

EC source page

Mindful of the difficulty many companies face in discovering what standards apply to them and what their timescales are, a joint CEN/CENELEC/ETSI initiative has produced a web site which allows a user to relate standards to products across multiple Directives, and track the development of these standards.

EMC Directive second edition The new EMC Directive's home page
New Approach The pan-standards bodies web site - this link allows you to look up applicable standards for the EMCD by product family
Cenelec Guides Guides 24 and 25, which tell you how you're supposed to use the standards in the OJ

EC Guidelines

New Directive Guidelines The EC guidelines on the new EMC Directive are available here: currently the May 07 version, there may be changes in future
UK Radiocomms Agency - Ofcom legacy site The EC guidelines on the old EMC Directive, still available from the Ofcom RA legacy site (for now)
